What’s Happening in February on Granville Island
February on Granville Island brings a little more light and a quieter kind of energy. Lanterns glow after dusk, families gather for performances, and the island feels full of moments worth slowing down for.
If you’re planning a visit this month, here’s what’s happening.

Lunar New Year | Year of the Horse
February 14 – March 11 | Island-wide
Lunar New Year returns to Granville Island, welcoming the Year of the Horse. A symbol of courage, movement, and moving forward even when the wind picks up. This year’s theme, Brave the Wind, carries through the programming across the island.
The Lantern City
February 14 – March 8 | Ocean Artworks Pavilion
Six large-scale lanterns curated by the Asian Canadian Special Events Association (ACSEA) fill the outdoor courtyard at Ocean Artworks. Each piece tells a story inspired by resilience, creativity, and forward momentum.
LunarFest Activities
February 14–28 | Various locations
Workshops, performances, food vendors, trivia, and hands-on activities unfold across Granville Island. Designed for all ages, with plenty of opportunities to wander and discover something new.
